Brain Black of Haloblack, Eric Powell of 16 Volt and Jared Louche formerly of Chemlab all gathered with industrial music pioneer (and invisible founder) Martin Adkins to form HELLBENT (now H3LLB3NT). Each member bringing they’re own distinct style to what amounts to an industrial super-group, not unlike Adkins own PIGFACE, but less drug fueled and much more focused. While these five men form the core of the group industrial luminaries such as Raymond "Pig" Watts and Anna "Sow" Wildsmith all make appearances as well.

The sound is sort of low fi EBM with a lot of sexual thrust. The stand out track is far and away RUBBER GIRLS WITH KNIVES, which was co-written and features vocals of Raymond Watts. The track is so damned good that it makes me even angrier that PIG’s last album is STILL not available stateside.

Other stand out tracks are the heartfelt and sad FORGET YOU, ATARITEENAGEFUCK which takes the messy drum and base fusion of ATARI TEENAGE RIOT and focuses it into a cohesive whole that ATR never manages to grasp. HELIOPHOBIC and JET BOY MACHINE should do good work on the dancefloor as well. Over all this is a good solid disc and is continually growing on me. Despite that not all the musical elements mesh together and the use of short bursts of noise (I.E. Sutures) tend to make some of this feel like leftover Chemlab material. Still it is a solid purchase. (AC)
